Lovely Today

Today, I'm pretending to be here:

Today, began a little rocky, to say the least. My car got broken into last night. This is a first for me. Not fun. Thankfully my car was clean (rare) and they only got an empty purse. Only got. Well, it was my all time favorite most perfect bag ever made, purse.

Right Now, I am thankful for le boy, great friends & and an empty fridge. This is a good thing because I am a stress eater. I need chocolate.

Tonight, is Katie's benefit concert and I get to catch up with some amazing ladies.

Tonight is going to kick Today's behind.

Oh, let's not forget that it is a 3 day weekend!

Lovely Scones

This morning I decided to wake up and make blueberry scones. A couple of reasons led me to early morning baking.

1) Hunger.

Scones

2) I really wanted to use my new plates.

Don't be too impressed with my breakfast of choice. It was the only "add water" package in the pantry. The grocery list is drafted and I promise to bring you some tasty recipes in the next few weeks.

Have a  great wednesday!

PS: I have about 15 extra scones lying around if anyone needs breakfast!

Lovely {Keep the Smile Alive!}

Did you join a sorority in college? I did. Honestly, I joined because if you rushed, then you got to move in early. Priorities people. I stayed because of a smile. One smile that was so infectious, you had to be around it. Katie Lunn was the type of girl that could take any situation and make a grin appear out of thin air. Oh, and don't even get me started on her amazing dancing skills. Katie lived to the fullest in every aspect of her life.

A year ago Katie passed away, but her smile lives on. Furthermore, that same smile will be spread across the nation for years to come through the Katie Lunn Memorial Scholarship. Our friend, Rachel, came up with a brilliant idea to host a Benefit Concert to help raise money. If you are looking for some cheap entertainment that goes to a great cause then e-mail KeepTheSmileAlive@gmail.com.

Lovely Crawfish de Mayo

A few weekends ago, the Young Men's Business League of Austin hosted Crawfish de Mayo. This annual get together not only provides tasty crawdaddies, but all the money raised goes towards the Sunshine Camps of Austin. I love supporting my friends, especially when it includes good food, good music & great people.

Lovely Mother's Day Meal

Last Sunday I celebrated Momma Orr with a trip to the country. People love to gather in the RT kitchen to cook, and my mom loves it when other people cook. We thought it would be ideal to gather up all those delicious dishes into a RT Recipes box.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day

While Momma Orr might not think she is an amazing chef, I beg to differ. She has a gift for creating delish, simple & healthy meals. For example, our mother's day meal and one of my all time favorite delights. I make this for lunch and dinner, myself and big groups. This is a fail proof go-to concoction. Enjoy!

Lovely icenhauer's

My friend Mike owns the most amazing bar in town, icenhauer's. No joke. This is the perfect place in Austin to hang out with friends and enjoy a delicious drink. Needless to say, I became giddy when Mike asked me to take pictures of their drink menu. Here are some of my favorites, but you can view ALL of the tasty concoctions on icenhauer's facebook page.

Warning: These photos will make you extra thirsty for happy hour.

Lovely {What Katie Ate}

I have discovered who I want to be when I grow up. Her name is Katie, she has an accent and is amazing.
Even though those two reasons should be enough, I'll share one more.

Katie lives her life as a foodie photography blogger. I know. Amazing right? Just check out these photos:

If her photos leave you drooling for more, head to the kitchen for some chocolate, then click the image below to watch Katie in action. I dare you not to fall in love with her vintage stock of kitchenware.

Oh, one more thing. While you are on facebook hop over and "like" the new Loving Wings facebook page, pretty please.

Lovely Jalapeño Popper Grilled Cheese

In April we celebrated National Grilled Cheese Sandwich month with a jalapeño popper grilled cheese. Yes, it is just as amazing as it sounds. Le boy took the reigns on this dinner and he kindly let me interrupt the kitchen flow with a few clicks of the camera. Be prepared for the perfect combination of cheese, bread & jalapeño.

I'm ready for lunch now.

{Ingredients: Jalapeño peppers, cut in half lengthwise and seeded; Slices sour dough bread; 1 tablespoon butter, room temperature; 1 tablespoon cream cheese, room temperature; 1/4 cup jack and cheddar cheese, shredded; 1 tablespoon tortilla chips, crumbled.}

Jalapeño Popper Grilled Cheese

{Cut, de-seed & lay halved jalapeño's on a baking sheet.}

Jalapeño Popper Grilled Cheese

{Place the baking sheet on top shelf of oven and broil until the outer layer of skin has blackened, about 8-14 minutes.}

Jalapeño Popper Grilled Cheese

{Place peppers in a zip-lock bag and let them cool about 20 minutes.}

Jalapeño Popper Grilled Cheese

{Begin to assemble your sandwich. Butter each side of the bread and add a layer of cream cheese and shredded cheese to the inside of each pair.}

Jalapeño Popper Grilled Cheese

{Crumple tortilla chips to add an extra bit of crunch. Note: While le boy appreciated the extra crunch, I could do without this step.}

Jalapeño Popper Grilled Cheese

{Remove the skins from the peppers. The skins should easily "pinch" off.}

Jalapeño Popper Grilled Cheese

{Add skinned peppers to the assembly line and close up each sandwich.}

Jalapeño Popper Grilled Cheese

{Grill and take a deep breathe. You'll thank me later.}

Jalapeño Popper Grilled Cheese

{Add a side of tomato soup and enjoy!}
